MAP (Master Affiliate Profits): Auto-responders: Day 1

Posted by

Continuing my journey with Master Affiliate Profits (MAP) a new training program I joined at the Platinum, Backer level.

I started looking round the back office to find the training and setup instructions, and to link in my auto-responder.

Multiple Streams of Income From Master Affiliate Profits (MAP)

On the profile section you fill in the Affiliate connections – see below – so that you can make commissions from others joining the program. As it happens I was already a member of all of these sites / networks, so I can’t comment specifically on the joining process. I just filled in my existing IDs.

List building is core to any online business, but few people ever get round to doing it – or if they start, they don’t carry on with it and the list fizzles away and forgets about you and your list / business.

Knowing this, MAP will do the email follow-ups FOR members, encouraging them to become a member, for 90 days. The theory is that if they haven’t upgraded within 90 days, they’re unlikely to. As a matter of fact I slightly disagree here, because I have people on my email list who have only taken action after being on my email list for months.

But not a problem, because you can – optionally – link in your own auto-responder so the leads are added to your own list and you can email them as you wish. Here are the auto-responders you can link to.

Which Auto-Responder to use in MAP?

First, be aware of the difference between adding your Aweber affiliate link to the profile – to get commissions from members who join with you – vs adding any current auto-responder you are using. Aweber is MAP’s recommended auto-responder for beginners, with an option to start free, and I’ve been using Aweber myself for years so I stuck with that.

I have several auto-responders that all answer different problems for me. For instance I had chance to take advantage of a brilliant offer from SendShark (50,000 subscribers instead of 20,000 for just $25 a month and it comes with a 2-tier compensation plan). As you’ll see from the image above, I could have linked that in so that my MAP leads would be added to a SendShark list, but as Aweber is MAPs recommended auto-responder, and I already had it, I stayed with having my own MAP leads added to Aweber. But SendShark solves a particular problem for me, and I’ve already made a first level sale to offset against the cost.

This is an extremely clever feature of MAP, to add commissions from their recommeded auto-responder as one of their multiple income streams, because once someone has an email list in a particular auto-responder, it’s such a kerfuffle to move that they’re likely to stay with that system for the life-time of their online journey. Here are some examples from my own experience:

  • I am still earning commissions from two people who joined me in GetResponse YEARS ago. Much as I like the GetResponse service, I had a spring-clean and no longer use it, I’m just an affiliate for it. I don’t even remember who joined from my link, but I do love it when those commissions come in.
  • A free mailer I use is LeadsLeap – because I just love the page builder. It takes a while to learn, but well worth the effort in my opinion. Whenever I see a stunning capture page it’s usually from LeadsLeap. Generous introducers I follow give out share codes so that you can follow the basic design, but make it your own. Although it’s free (and free members can earn commissions too) I upgraded because of the many extra features in the paid version. I don’t know what I would do without it – and sufficient other members feel the same that I haven’t paid the membership fee for as long as I can remember. It’s covered by my earnings in the affiliate program.
  • One of my very first auto-responders is MailerLite and for a while now they’ve been ‘nagging me’ to upgrade from the version I’ve been using to their paid version, but they did offer a way to migrate to their free version. Just last night I decided to bite the bullet and migrate to free – then I saw what was involved, vs the price of the upgrade. My time can be better spent: for example writing a blog post that could earn me commissions for life. So I decided to pay the very modest annual upgrade fee, which of course I can offset against my profits for tax purposes. Another commission for someone 🙂

Really Don’t Want an Autoresponder?

So many people resist paying for an auto-responder, or pay, start building a list, and then don’t consistently email their leads when they don’t see instant results. That’s a terrible shame because my own experience is that people join a shiny object (or two), find it doesn’t work, then come back to the genuine business you have been emailing them about. (Hold my hands up – I’ve done the same!)

But again, MAP has you covered if you don’t want to pay for an auto-responder. They will send 90 days of done-for-you follow-up emails on your behalf to encourage your leads to take action.

In fact the MAP founders actually go so far as to recommend that you DON’T email your prospect list, because in their experience new (and experienced!) affiliates tend to ‘do it wrong’ and burn out their list by emailing it too often. Even, as they get desperate, sending unrelated offers that finally cause people to be thoroughly fed up and unsubscribe.

I’ve been on John Thornhill’s email list for MANY years now, so I’m familiar with his emails and although I didn’t join most things he recommended, I never felt the need to unsubscribe. So I shall be following the MAP advice and leaving the follow-ups to them for 90 days. At any time I can download my leads and add them to an existing auto-responder.
